The purpose of the act is to give everyone greater rights of access to information about how public authorities work. All of the organisations involved in provision of health services such as the Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, the Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust, The 2gether Trust and all GP practices are obliged to respond to requests for information under this act.
